» » Juke Kartel @ The Zoo 13.11.08

Juke Kartel have a lot of the key ingredients needed to make a rock band recipe taste extra crunchy: a drummer who knows how to and when to solo; two guitarists whose interplay keeps the audience enthralled, and a vocalist who walks that fine line between cockiness and chauvinistic arrogance.

When they rock out and frontman Toby Rand walks out into the crowd to sing, they are a captivating and uncontainable rock machine.

However, when they decide to slow things down and try their arm at moody ballads, the result comes off a little bit too much like Creed for my liking. Irks aside, tonight is a surprisingly enjoyable experience.
